Our Little Snow Village

So far, we have put managed to put up the village and nutcracker collection.  I will be posting all our other Christmas decorations this weekend and next week.  I usually feel the need to have everything done by the Sunday after Thanksgiving, however this year I have been so busy that decorating (unfortunately) has taken the backseat.  Even so, I am determined to get it all up and looking beautiful!

Meg Puts Up Our Nutcracker Collection

Posted by Picasa

Meg spent last Saturday putting up the nutcrackers on our bookshelf in the living room. It was the first sign of the Christmas season at our house this year.

Later that night Kyle came over to admire her fabulous nutcracker arrangements. Their plan was to roast some marshmallows at our fire pit outside but it was very chilly so they did it inside at the fireplace instead.

Britty Makes Dinner ~ Thanksgiving 2009

Milo watches and waits for scraps as his mommy gets busy making soup.

Seven Can Tortilla Soup is a great way to use up leftover turkey.

Here's the happy chef at work. She gets her joy for cooking from her dad.

Soup simmering on the stove, what a yummy sight!

She even made a pumpkin pie! Can't wait for her to return home for Christmas.

Rudie Reindeer Snack For Kids

I teach second grade and every month we have "snazzy snack" in our class. It's a fun way for students to practice handwriting and measuring skills. It is also an easy treat to make with your own children.

For the “Rudie the Reindeer” snack you will need:

1 plain rice cake
1 squeeze bottle of caramel sauce
2 Hershey Kisses
2 small pretzel twists
1 maraschino cherry
small paper plate
plastic knife

Directions:
1. Spread one tablespoon of caramel sauce on the rice cake.
2. Add kisses to make eyes.
3. Add pretzels to make antlers.
4. Put a cherry in the middle for a red nose!
5. Enjoy!

Here's what the finished product looks like:
